On September 5th 2023 Nic has been appointed Managing Director of FMO Investment Management taking over the role of co-founder Yvonne Bakkum.
Since 2012 Nic Wessemius was responsible for business development and investment solutions for FMO Investment Management. His specific responsibilities were developing fund strategies, investor relations and portfolio management.
Nic joined FMO in 2005 as a Senior Investment Officer at the Financial Markets team. In this position, he was responsible for loan syndications in Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America. He also worked on various structured finance solutions for microfinance and SME portfolios such as CLOs and first loss products.
Before joining FMO Nic worked as Assistant Director for a total of 8 years in the equity capital markets joint venture between ABN Amro Bank and Rothschild. For approximately 5 years Nic was based in London, where his specific assignment was to work on pan-European equity syndication, UK brokerage and convertible bond origination. Nic was also seconded to New York for an extended period to oversee the integration of the European equity syndication activity after ABN’s disposal of the US equity business.
Nic holds a Masters' degree in Economics from the University of Groningen.
Since 2012 John has worked for FMO Investment Management. He is responsible for risk management, finance, legal, compliance, treasury and ICT. In this capacity he is also responsible for the risk profile of FMO Investment Management and the license under which FMO investment Management operates.
John joined FMO in 2007 as a Senior Finance & Control Officer at the Finance and Reporting department. In this position, he was responsible for financial reporting, investment valuation and IFRS compliance of both the bank and the government funds it manages. John also served as a member of FMO’s pension committee.
Before joining FMO John worked for 3 years as a senior financial auditor with EY servicing large multinational companies in the financial sector (banking, insurance and asset management). Through this work, John has extensive knowledge of national and international law and regulations including IFRS, USGAAP WFT and SOX. In 2000 John started his career at Accon AVM audit & advisory where he serviced mainly clients in the SME segment.
John holds a Masters' degree in Business Economics from the University of Amsterdam and a Postgraduate Master in Audit and Control from the Amsterdam Business School.
Since 2015 Jeroen is Corporate Secretary and Senior Legal Counsel for FMO IM. In these capacities he is responsible for advising on corporate, legal and regulatory matters and for corporate housekeeping.
Jeroen joined FMO in 2011 as Legal Counsel at the Legal & Compliance department. In this position he was responsible for handling legal matters in debt and private equity (fund) transactions. Jeroen was also involved in the establishment and licensing of FMO Investment Management.
Prior to joining FMO, Jeroen worked for a Dutch law firm for 5 years of which 4 years as a lawyer where he specialized in mergers & acquisitions, corporate and commercial law.
Jeroen holds a masters’ degree in civil law from the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
As Senior Compliance Officer, with his knowledge and experience on compliance related matters, Sascha supports FMO Investment Management in meeting their regulatory obligations.
Sascha joined FMO in June 2021, in previous positions he was a Group Compliance Manager at an international offshore company, Compliance Officer at a financial institution and Supervision Officer at the Dutch securities regulator (AFM).
Sascha was a key lecturer and program advisor regarding Anti-Bribery & Corruption Training for Compliance Professionals at the White collar academy in The Hague.
Sascha holds i.a. a Masters’ degree in Civil law from the Erasmus University Rotterdam and an Executive Master of Compliance degree from the VU University in Amsterdam.
As Portfolio Manager at FMO Investment Management, Taco is responsible for the co-ordination of FMO’s activities related to the debt funds, working closely with investment teams that focus on sourcing eligible investments for these funds. Taco is responsible for the preparation of the investment advices that FMO Investment Management provides to the debt fund investment committees on suitable fund investments. In addition, Taco participates in investor facing activities and product development
Before joining FMO Investment Management Taco worked as a Senior Strategy Advisor at FMO for almost 4 years. In this role he developed FMO’s corporate strategy towards 2030 in which the mobilisation of private capital play’s a key role to maximize FMO’s impact.
Before joining FMO, Taco worked for several years as an independent consultant in the impact investment industry, contributing to the development of long-term strategies for several impact investment organizations. Prior to this, Taco performed the role of senior investment officer at Triodos Investment Management in which he covered predominantly financial institutions in Eastern Europe and Central Asia for both debt and equity transactions. During the same period Taco finalized his Executive Masters M&A and Valuation at the Duisenberg School of Finance & University of Groningen.
Taco started his career in 1998 at Fortis Investment Management as an equity analyst with a focus on financial services for the pan-European equity team. He performed stock selection, financial modelling, sector tracking of UK, Dutch and Scandinavian banks and sector research on banks, retailers and pharmaceuticals.
Marco is responsible for portfolio management of the debt funds. He oversees the performance of loans in the various portfolios and its compositions. Besides this Marco prepares investment advices for the various Fund Investment Committee meetings.
Before joining FMO Investment Management, Marco worked at FMO for 19 years in various positions always focussed on portfolio administration, analysis and management. Most recently he held a position as Sr Portfolio Analyst Energy - West Africa /MENA. Marco started his career at Rabobank, where he was Associate/ Team coordinator Commercial Corporate Advice.
He holds several qualifications with respect to accounting, banking and economics.
Nicole is Senior Portfolio Analyst at FMO Investment Management. She is responsible for all administrative tasks related to the FMO IM debt funds and supports the Portfolio Officer and Manager in their responsibilities for the investment management process of these debt funds.
Prior to this, Nicole was Senior Mid Office Officer at FMO’s Mid Office for over a decade, where in the last three years she was responsible for the correct administration of all transactions sourced by the Energy Department in FMO’s loan administration system.
Before joining FMO mid-1989, Nicole worked at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation.
Nicole holds several qualifications with respect to accounting and banking.
As Communications Advisor, Martine is responsible for the marketing and communications aspects, ranging from market research to all external and internal communications.
In her previous positions at FMO Martine worked for 6 years at the Marketing & Communications department where she was responsible for, among other things, annual reporting, maintaining the FMO website and internal communications. Martine first joined FMO in 2001 and has held several positions throughout the organization.
Before Martine joined FMO she worked for DTZ Zadelhoff, a commercial property real estate agent, and the Sheraton Pulitzer Hotel.
Martine holds several qualifications in the fields of tourism, administration and communications.
Caroline is a Portfolio Officer at FMO Investment Management. She oversees the performance of loans in various portfolios and its compositions. Besides this Caroline prepares investment advices for the various Fund Investment Committee meetings. Furthermore she is responsible for monitoring existing investment with a specific focus on investments in the Financial Institutions sector working closely with investment officers and coordinating the activities between Fund Partners and FMO.
Prior to this, she was Senior Portfolio Analyst at FMO Investment Management since 2022. Preceded by 5 years a Senior Portfolio Analyst at FMO, Financial Institutions team Africa, responsible for monitoring the existing loan portfolio in Southern Africa.
Before joining FMO, Caroline worked for 21 years at Rabobank International, and for a large part at the Structured Finance team as a Transaction Support Manager.
She holds a Bachelors’ degree in business Economics from the ‘Hogeschool Rotterdam’.
